Jenny Poinsard d'Hericourt

Jenny Poinsard d'Hericourt was a multidisciplinary scholar who worked for women's rights and participation in France's civil society. At the age of 61 she moved to the United States where she was a practicing midwife.

Chronology

1809 - born in Besancon into a Protestant family.

1844 - published a novel, Le Fils du Reprouve under the pseudonymn, Feliz Lamb.

1848 - organized women to work for womens civil liberty. They published Société pour l'émancipation des femmes in March of that year.

1850 - studied homeopathic medicine and later obstetrics in Paris

1860 - published A Woman's Philosophy of Woman; or Woman Affranchised an Answer to Michelet, Proudhon, Girardin, Legouve, Comte, and Other Innovators

1863 - 1873 - lived in the USA; practices midwifery in Chicago

1875 -Jenny Poinsard d'Hericourt dies.
