Women Philosophers 500 - 1000 CE

Women Philosophers At present the only 'lovers of wisdom' we have for this time period are the following:

• 614 - 680 CE - HIld of Streonshalh who is sometimes referred to as Hilda of Whitby
• c. 804 - c. 843 CE - Dhouda of Gascony

• 935 - 973 CE Hroswitha of Gandersheim
• 970 - 1031 CE Murasaki Shikibu

My hope is that some readers and researchers will tell me of additional women philosophers who lived and worked in this time period. I feel confident that they existed but their names are not known to me.
